1) Log on to www.dadeschools.net and click on "parent" or "community"

* Note: one parent will be a "parent" member (usually the 1st person listed on the school's contact card) and the other parent and family members will be "community" members for volunteering purposes.  If you do not have a log in or your child's other parent/guardian is the main account on the parent portal, please see below under "community" directions.

2) If you have a log in and password, sign in and select the blue "applications" link at the top.  

3) Under Applications, select "Be a School Volunteer!"

4) Complete all required information, selecting South Miami Sr. High from the drop down school menu on the 2nd page.

5) If you would like to attend field trips that DO NOT involve overnight stays, please select Level 1 clearance and click on "music."  If interested in going on the longer field trips, please click on Level 1 "music" and Level 2 "overnight chaperone"

6) When finished, click submit.

7) A link will pop up at the bottom of the page if you selected Level 2 for you to print out your fingerprinting letter.  Please have your student bring Mrs. Jimenez the letter to get it signed for your fingerprints to be free.

8) When finished, please email Mrs. Jimenez your volunteer ID (starting with a "P" for parent portal or a "C" for community).

For "Community" members to volunteer 

(including 2nd parent/guardian, any family members over age 21, alumni, etc):

1) Go to www.dadeschools.net and click on the "Community" picture on the right.

2) Scroll down to the bottom of the page where there are 4 boxes.  Select the "I don't have an account" button.

3) Fill out your name and email address and the system will create a log in and password and email it to you.

4) Check the email you listed and PRINT THE PAGE with your new ID number (looks like C123456) and password.

5) Go back to dadeschools.net and click on community.  Scroll down to the bottom and click on "I have an account/sign in."

6) Enter your new ID number (the "C" is part of the number and must be used!) and password.

7) Follow steps #2-7 at the top of this page to create your volunteer status.
